Stress, Leave it at the Door

Monday 11 August 2008 @ 10:45 am
by Sara Mendez

There are many things in life worrying about, but stress should not be one of them. Stress is like disease which sucks the fun out of everything. Stress cause sleep deprivation, lose interest in activities you once found entertaining, and stress can also cause your work performance to suffer.

Stress can be the cause of other more serious problems. Stress has been linked to medical problems such as chronic headaches, lower immune system, heart attacks, stomach problems, and age faster, just to name a few. You may start to become jumping, anxious, short tempered and think negatively about your abilities which can produce a poor self image.

Stress has been linked to medical problems such as chronic headaches, age acceleration, lower immune system, heart attacks, and stomach problems, just to name a few. Many people under stress are also short tempered, grouchy, anxious and jumpy.

By learning to manage stress, you will find that you look forward to meeting new people, regain your sense of humor and self confidence. You will also find yourself feeling more relaxed, calmer, and have increased energy. You may even allow yourself to enjoy recreational activities and have more independence.

Stress is all about perception. What is stressful for one may not be for another. When learning to cope with stress, you must look at perception as well. Many times we blow things way out of proportion and therefore causing more un-necessary stress in our lives. Some think of stress is caused from bad things in peoples’ lives such as financial issues or marriage problems, however often stress can be caused from something happy such as a wedding or children.

Some people manage stress through medications, a counselor and others turn to hypnosis. Since there are so many different treatments and options for stress management, it is important to research all aspects of the treatments to decide what is right for you.

Hypnosis can help with stress management in many ways. It allows you to change your behavior response to stress and help address what triggers stress in your mind. You will find you are calmer, relaxed and more rational. Your body will be more relaxed, your breathing more steady which will calm your mind. All of this will help fight tension from stress which can cause chronic medical problems. It will also allow you to address the behaviors you have while experiencing stress such as anger or frustration and help you to remain calm in these situations.

Stress is a part of everyone life in one way or another and chances are, you will always have stress. However stress does not have to rule your life, there are options out there. You must decide how you want to live your life and how you want to feel. How do you want to be seen by others, no one wants to be thought of as a ticking time bomb. The time is now, make a choice.

Getting Yourself In Shape For Summer On a Budget

Monday 11 August 2008 @ 10:44 am
by Ian Richards

With summer just around the corner, it is time to tune up your body and wardrobe so that you will look absolutely stunning as you relax on the beach or by the pool. Those with a gym membership will already have a head start, provided that they are actually going regularly. If you haven’t joined, it probably means that you would be wasting your money to rush and join one now. All is not lost as there are other strategies to help you.

If you work in an office block, start to use the stairs instead of the lift but don’t attempt to climb to the top straight away. Use the stairs to go down, then take the lift to the floor below and walk the rest. When you feel comfortable walking one floor, stop two floors early and so on, remembering to get to your office in good time to do this. Don’t sabotage yourself by arriving too late to use the stairs.

Another strategy is when you are carrying your shopping, lift your arms out in front of you, hold then slowly drop them. Repeat this with your arms out to the side. It would be beneficial if you had roughly equal weight in each hand. You may get strange looks now but you will be getting admiring looks later.

Everybody does incredible work on their body but often overlooks their face, except for the rich who just run for the plastic surgeon, throw thousands of pounds at them and hide from the world until the scars and bruising has died down. For us normal people we have a way that is even better. Facial exercises, that’s what. Not just any facial exercises, isometric, they are the ones that will really take the years off and really improve the facial muscle definition and skin tone to smooth out the wrinkles and any sagging skin. Most young people dismiss facial exercises as being just for old people but the smart ones are doing it because they know that they are going to keep those youthful looks far longer than their friends.

Sun is the enemy of skin. It dries it and tans it so don’t forget to use a good blocker when lying out on the beach. Remember that your face will have taken sun even when it is overcast. You don’t have to stay indoors all the time but you do have to monitor the amount of sun you take as it does have an ageing effect on the skin and there is a risk of skin cancer.

From the head to the toes, as soon you will be wearing a lot of open shoes and sandals, it is time to give yourself a pedicure. If your money will stretch that far, why not treat yourself to a professional one. If you want to save money you can always do it yourself. Why not make a night of it and pamper your toes as you watch your favourite TV show.

Dieting is something that people always rush into when thinking about their summer holiday but it may be too late to start in May because what you do not want to do is to starve your body of health giving vitamins that will help your skin to tan. What you can do is to cut down on all the empty foods such as chocolate, crisps and sugary drinks and increase the healthy stuff. Foods rich in beta-carotene such as carrots, sweet potatoes, kale, spinach, broccoli, cantaloupe melons, romaine lettuce and fresh thyme will not only help in the tanning process but will also help to protect your skin from damage. Eating more fruit will also aid in increasing vitamin C levels. It is better to get your vitamins from natural sources rather than chugging down pills as the body will assimilate them easier.

If you still need convincing, perhaps try on your swimsuit from last year and look in the mirror. Whilst you are looking, check out the summer clothes. Keep the classics but ditch those that were only a passing phase. Do a little retail therapy and get some new threads, remembering what will mix and match from last year. It is amazing what can be revived. Throw in a couple of pairs of shoes and maybe top it off with a rakish hat and you are ready to take on the world.

Sciatica - Exercises to Help Relieve Your Pain

Monday 11 August 2008 @ 10:38 am
by Paul Boxcer

Do not be misled into thinking that you have been given a diagnosis if someone has told you you are suffering with ’sciatica’. The term sciatica is only a descriptive one. If you had pains in your head, I take it you would not be fooled into thinking you were being diagnosed as having a ‘headache’, yet this is exactly the same as being told you have sciatica i.e. you are suffering with pain down the back of your leg which is a result of the sciatic nerve being irritated. If you are looking for exercise for your sciatica, you need to find the cause of it first.

The sciatic nerve is formed from 5 nerve roots which leave the lower back from the lumbar spine and sacrum. As it does this, the sciatic nerve passes through the buttock region and down the back of the leg to the back of the knee. As it passes below the knee, it is officially no longer referred to as the sciatic nerve. However, pain which is felt anywhere down the back of the leg to as far as the toes, is typically termed sciatica (assuming it is an irritated sciatic nerve which is causing the pain).

Getting back to the aim of this article i.e. exercises for Sciatica, as I mentioned above, this will all depend upon the true cause of the problem itself.

Although not exclusive, there are three main causes of sciatica:

1) Disc Prolapse.

Do not let the term ‘Disc Prolapse’ (or other terminology such as disc herniation, disc bulge, slipped disc etc worry you. A large amount of sciatica is caused by disc problems and they can be quite readily treated. The pain arises due to the disc prolapse pressing upon the nerve roots and subsequently irritating the sciatic nerve to cause pain. The appropriate treatment for this is likely to be extension based exercises, which is the movement of leaning backwards. However, to begin with you would start these exercise by lying on your stomach, maybe with a pillow or two underneath your stomach. You would adopt this position for about 5 - 10 minutes several times per day, let’s say every hour or so.

2) Facet Joint Compression.

At the back of each lumbar vertebrae are the facet joints, these articulate with each other every time our back moves. Unfortunately, they can irritate the sciatica nerve, especially if they begin to pinch on the nerve roots which make up the sciatic nerve. If this was the case, an exercise programme which is almost the opposite to the one given for a disc prolapse would be given. To begin with this would include exercises such as hugging your knees to your chest while lying on the floor, or sitting back onto your knees while on all fours.

3) Tight Muscles.

The Piriformis muscle and the Hamstring muscles both have the sciatic nerve pass either through or underneath them as it travels through the buttock and down the back of the leg respectively. Consequently, the sciatic nerve can be easily aggravated if these muscles are tight and exert increased stress across it. Therefore, the treatment would involve stretching out any tightness present.

Whether it is the Piriformis muscle, the Hamstrings or any other muscle for that matter, it is always essential you start off nice & gently with regards to any stretching exercises. As you progress, you will notice that the stretches get a lot easier. Only then should you consider advancing to more aggressive stretches.

As I mentioned above, sciatica can be a result of many different causes, and it is the cause of your Sciatica which dictates the exercises needed to be performed, not the sciatica itself.

Just to elaborate a little further before I finish, muscle imbalance is without doubt one of the biggest problems with regards to sciatica. This is where either tight or weak muscles combine to place inappropriate stresses across structures, such as the sciatic nerve, which results in pain.

Strengthening exercises have not been discussed within this article However, if there is any weakness present, it is imperative these muscles are provided with a strengthening exercise programme.

The Q and A on Cleansing Your Skin

Monday 11 August 2008 @ 10:35 am
by Kyle Richey

For the years I’ve spent researching body cleansing for your skin I can’t believe I have never put together a little question and answer styled article. Everyday, I probably spend two to three hours just answering emails about various issues or thoughts people have about body cleansing and the effects it has you.

I find it humbling that so many people trust me and what I have to say about all the research Ive done on this subject. I just love helping others to find a way that they can look better and be more secure with their looks as well. Everything is worth it when I get those thank you notes, so I have put together an article that will answer some of the most common questions I get from time to time.

What Is Body Cleansing?- Basically, it’s a way for you to get all the toxins out of your body. Instead of letting them build up and create various health issues, body cleansing allows for a safe way to release them. Although this article is based on your skin, the other benefits throughout the other organs in your body are endless.

How Does Body Cleansing Work? ” Actually it can be a very long process that requires that you take cleansing products over time. You may still see some breakouts in the beginning, but you shouldnt worry about this. The longer you work on the cleansing, youll see your skin looking better and better as the days go by as you get rid of these toxins.

How Long Before My Skin Looks Beautiful?- This is a question I’ve wrestled with for quite some time because each individual is different. Even though we are made up of the same inner organs, our bodies process things at different rates so there are many variables to include. I can’t give you an exact time, but after a week of doing it myself, my skin was less oily and looked much healthier.

What if I Skip Some Days? ” This is a very important topic. You see, it is so important that you stick with the routine each and every day. While it can be difficult to stick to it, if you do it every single day, youll find that you see the results much quicker.

Is Something Like This Expensive?- When I first looked into body cleansing for the skin a few years ago this was a great question. Now I ask everyone, “How much is your health worth?” You have to remember this will benefit your overall health, not just the skin. As far as the price, well, it just depends on what you consider to be expensive or inexpensive and of course, your financial capabilities.

These are just a few answers to some of the common questions I get asked on a regular basis. Of course until you read the checklists I have made, you wont get the full effects. Ive taken notes on the Acne Free in 3 Days ebook and put it all together and offered some checklists as well. This will help save you a lot of time and I hope theyll help you become healthier as well.
