AA Claims Money Misery For Mobile Phone Using Motorists

Although those illegally using a mobile phone whilst driving will be fined, this may be just the beginning of their motoring related money pressures.

Such is the claim of AA Insurance, which it highlighted that consumers who choose to flout the law and talk on the phone while behind the wheel will be hit with a fixed-penalty notice to the tune of 60 pounds. And while some people might think that such a punishment is sufficient in itself, for those using a mobile while in motion the financial services firm indicated that such drivers will face higher motor insurance premiums. It was indicated that those drivers who are guilty of using a mobile phone while driving will discover their insurance costs rise by an average of about 40 pounds over the course of 12 months - with increases over the three-year period that the offence lasts for standing at “well over” 100 pounds.

Although rising the annual cost of insurance by 40 pounds is in itself a substantial rise, many drivers could discover that being caught with a mobile while driving may have even more serious financial consequences. Out of a panel of 8 insurance companies, AA pointed out that the providers questioned may increase yearly costs anywhere between 4.2 and 18.1 per cent for those with just 1 mobile offence. One firm, it was also claimed, will refuse to provide cover altogether.

Leading on from increased vehicle insurance costs, it is also possible that drivers will be exposed to more financial pressure managing other aspects related to their car such as fuel and repairs. This could have a knock on effect reducing their ability to handle other financial areas such as credit cards, personal loans and household bills.

Consumers who use a mobile could also find themselves being charged with careless driving. An offence, it was claimed, may mean they are banned from using a car. Furthermore, such consumers may find that they are refused cover, with half of the insurance providers stating that they would not offer a premium to such a consumer, with the rest imposing increases of more than 50 per cent.

Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, stated: “Driving whilst using a hand held mobile phone places you at greater risk of having an accident - it slows reactions and you are less able to control the car. Insurance companies quite rightly take such offences seriously. Many offenders are not aware of the premium rise and we hope that raising awareness of this extra cost will help people to think twice about chatting on a hand held phone when driving.”

He went to assert that following a road accident police check up on mobile phone records as a part of their routine investigations to see if the device played a role in the event taking place. As a result, when drivers either have to take out cover or renew their policy, Mr Douglas urged them to be completely honest with insurance providers when asked if they have endorsements on their licence. Should this not be the case however, it was reported that they may find their insurance cover is compromised.

When looking to buy a new car, using a cheap loan could prove to be cost effective. By doing so, borrowers may find that they can purchase the vehicle of their dreams and are left with a lower rate of monthly repayments to make. The extra assistance a loan provides could may help when buying a comprehensive motor insurance policy. A loan for this purpose is even more useful for those wanting to buy a convertible car, after a recent study by Confused revealed that insurance for such vehicles is an average of 11 pounds more expensive than for other cars.

Searching For The Best Car Insurance Quote

Monday 26 May 2008 @ 12:33 pm
by Jay Anderson

No matter whether you have owned your car forever, or you’re just buying one, you’ll want to know how to go about finding your best car insurance quote. Every car insurance company tries to offer you some type of extra, to drag you in, so that you’ll go with their insurance company. You need to know how to tell the good guys from the bad guys when it comes to insurance companies.

The most expeditious method of finding the best insurance quote is the internet. There are a multitude of websites that will do all the work for you and give you a list of insurance companies that fit your budget, driving record and other specifications. Quite often these websites will return information on several insurance companies, allowing you the opportunity to compare companies, services and features against each other at the same time.

Of course, you still have the option of talking to your local insurance agent as well. They can sometimes offer you the best car insurance quotes as well. In fact, you may want to look into a broker specifically, they do not work for just one company, they work for many and will do what it takes to find you the best offer out of all of those companies. Of course, you should remember that the minute you start to search for internet, the phone calls, emails, and postal mail will start pouring in with different offers from insurance companies.

Once you find a few companies that have what you’re looking for, you can then play them against each other. Many companies offer the promise that they will meet or beat their competitor’s prices. The catch to that is that you need to show proof of the competitor’s price in writing. This can work to your advantage as you can then let the two insurance companies compete against each other for your business.

There are three key components to your auto insurance that you want to make certain are commensurate with your needs: price, necessary coverage and quality customer service. It is useless to choose a company that charges an exorbitant amount just to make you wait an extra 30 days for your claims to be processed.

You do not have to get insurance from big name companies, high quality insurance does not have to cost you a lot. Most insurance companies are all too happy to provide you with a quote over the telephone and free at that. You will make to make sure that you have some information ready such as basic and vehicle information. If you have this ready, they may be able to give you the quote you need, perhaps while you are on the telephone waiting.

When you want to find the best insurance quotes, leave no stone unturned. Check all of your viable avenues because this is the best way for you to compare quotes and get as many good, relevant offers as possible. Don’t rush in, going with the first good sounding offer, but not the last either. Review your options and weigh them well to see what is offered by each company.

By doing some research, whether via the Internet or through local companies, you’ll be sure to make a good, sound, educated choice. Be sure to ask a lot of questions about the types of coverage they offer and if they’re really necessary for you to have. That way you’ll have many quotes to choose from and get the best coverage you can get for the money you want to spend.

Get an unfair advantage-Own a Water Powered Car

Monday 26 May 2008 @ 11:59 am

It’s now possible to power your car on water and gas, instead of 100% gas. It is no longer a Secret. This “Earth” friendly (Green) technology gives you many amazing benefits. Below are 7 of these incredible advantages of using this technology.

1. Imagine how much money this would save you at the end of the month and at the end of the year by improving your gas mileage by up to 50%. This includes both city and highway driving conditions. This could save you over $1000.00 per year.

With a family of more than one licensed driver, this yearly savings increases dramatically. And what if you have a fleet of 50 drivers in your company? Well, I think you get the picture.

2. Your engine will ADD oxygen to the environment instead of polluting it. Eliminate harmful exhaust emission that pollute the environment and contribute to global warming. How about doing something good to help the environment for a change?

3. The more gas you use the more damage you cause to your engine - thus reducing the performance. But by using water as an alternative, this enhances your engine power and improves performance by using less gas.

4. Carbon deposits removed and prevent future carbon build up.

5. The operating temperature of the engine is reduced, and wasted heat (pollution) into the environment is also reduced.

6. Inside your engine water has an effect on the combustion cycle. You will notice a calmer, quieter and much smoother engine operation and smoother gearshifts.

7. Enjoy a longer life expectancy of your engine, especially the pistons, rings and valves. These are just some of the many advantages of water/gas technology. Remember, YOU can build the device needed to make this technology work for YOU, from the comfort of your home.

Why Is This Used Car So Cheap

Monday 26 May 2008 @ 10:55 am
by Warren Scott

Buying a used can some times be a challenge. Can I trust the person that I am buying from? How do I know if it is a good deal? Am I paying to much for this car? These are just a few of the questions that run through our head as we prepare to buy that used car. We also want to get the best car for the money. I am sure that we have all run into the used car ad that has an incredibly cheap price on it. Is it to good to be true? Good question!

The first thing that we need to remember is that people like money, and they don’t normally give things away to strangers. If you find a used car that seems to be priced way to low then there is a good chance that something is wrong with the car. In a situation like this you don’t want to buy the car no matter what!

The most obvious place to investigate is the title. If the car has been totaled or salvaged the title of the car will have that stamped on it. Therefore always ask the owner to see the title of the car while you are test driving it. If they are hesitant or if the title is at their brothers’ house this is sure warning sign so beware!

Also many times the owner will have a new title issued for their car. This is also a little fishy to me. Many times people loose the title on purpose so that they can eliminate the “Salvaged” stamp on the title, or to hide how many miles that the car actually had. If this is the case and you are unable to tell if the car has been in a serious wreck by looking at the title then proceed to the following tips.

When I was younger and very ambitious to get a nice truck for a little amount of money I didn’t take the proper precautions and I got fooled! This particular truck supposedly had less than 100,000 miles on it. It was a good price but the truck was pretty dirty and used. I should have seen the warning signs, “dirty + used = over 100,000 miles” but I really wanted this truck and so I bought it.

I enjoyed it and it worked just fine for what I needed it to do. Two years time had passed and I was ready to sell it and get a sportier car. I listed the truck in the paper and hoped to get more then what I owed the bank. The first possible buyer really liked the truck and agreed to buy it. He took the VIN and told me he would bring a check within 2 days time. I was so excited!

Oh how quickly the story changed. Two hours later he called me back and informed me that he could no longer buy the truck. I was perplexed! He went on to tell me that he checked online and the vehicle with that VIN actually had over 100,000 miles. That’s right a mechanic registered it online when it was just about to turn 100,000 miles and now I was stuck with a car not even worth what I owed on it. The buyer was still interested to buy the truck but for half of the asking price!

What did I do? I took the hit. I lowered the price and told people that I wasn’t for sure if the miles were accurate or not. It took much longer to sell and I didn’t get nearly the money that I had expected. I also was a little mad at myself for not checking the VIN online myself before buying the truck. Oh well, live and learn right!

If you are unsure about the car that you are considering to buy, then check it out online. The technology that we have today is incredible, and we should use it to the best of our ability. It can save us a lot of money at the same time.

Let’s continue thinking about this topic and consider this as you go. If a deal seems to good to be true; it normally is! Now if you are buying from your uncle Henry or someone that you know you can trust that is a different story. Otherwise I would proceed with caution. I hope that you all find your dream car for the price that you want. It is possible, just keep hunting!
